The aim of this mixed use development was to deliver well designed, high quality private and public spaces integrated into the commercial and residential activity of the site and its users. The proposal provides significant enhancements through a combination of hard and soft landscaped areas across the site. Green roofs combined with landscaping will also provide considerable biodiversity improvements.
The residential blocks' long axis is perpendicular to the rail lines to mitigate noise exposure in the apartments, also avoiding north oriented apartments. The shaping of the design and the chosen materials such as dark brownish clay tiles and light colour brick has been inspired by the historical industrial usage of the site. Grey windows and doors will be utilised on all levels combined with glass balustrades to balconies and terraces providing a contemporary appearance.
